Key compounds and their effects found in Tea:
Caffeine
A central nervous system stimulant, caffeine blocks the neurotransmitter adenosine, which reduces drowsiness and increases alertness. Unlike the abrupt jolt from coffee, the caffeine in tea binds with catechins and is released more slowly. This results in a sustained energy boost without the jitters, anxiety, or crashes often associated with high-caffeine beverages.
L-theanine
This amino acid works in contrast to caffeine. It can pass the blood- brain barrier and has been shown to increase alpha brain waves, which are associated with a state of relaxed and focused awareness. L-theanine calms the nervous system, which counteracts the stimulating effects of caffeine, creating a state of "alert relaxation".
Catechins
These antioxidants are highly concentrated in certain teas, especially green and certain pu-erh teas. Catechins, specifically a compound called EGCG, can interact with the body's endocannabinoid receptors. This system is known to influence mood and can produce a feeling of well-being, which some liken to the effect of cannabis (entourage effect), though much milder.
Theophylline and Theobromine

Terpenes
Our Tea blends are packed with natural terpenes found in the tea and botanicals (the compounds that give tea it's amazing aromas, flavors and wellness benefits). But watch out (terpenes are volatile) : if you use boiling water and leave your mug uncovered, those precious terpenes will float away with the steam. Pop a lid on your cup while it steeps to lock the magic in!
